FAITH AT THE HEART OF OUR TOWN

Built in Stockton.
Belonging to Stockton.

Opened in 2017, Farooq E Azam Mosque & Islamic Centre is part of the everyday landscape of Bowesfield Lane, in Stockton’s Parkfield area. Its green dome, minaret and curved entrance give the building a character of its own.

Inside, worship and religious teaching sit alongside a wider purpose: helping neighbours learn about Islam and building understanding across the town. Those connections are reflected in visits from local school groups, public art and Stockton’s shared civic life.

UNMISTAKABLY STOCKTON

More than a landmark.
Part of the town’s story.

A building shaped by craftsmanship.
A community connected to its neighbours.

CRAFTSMANSHIP YOU CAN SEE

An entrance with a story

The curved entrance was made by joiner Garry Malkin of GM Joinery Services. Accoya’s project account describes ten months of work and 170 individual timber sections, creating a doorway 10.5 metres high and 3.4 metres wide.

One of Stockton’s many voices

Recordings from the mosque featured in A Portrait in Ten Parts, a sound installation by Invisible Flock and Umar Butt. Presented around ARC in September 2021, it brought together the sounds of places across the town.
